ECHO PB-9010T Review: 1,110 CFM X Series Backpack Blower Pros and Cons

CFM (cubic feet per minute) is the volume of air a blower moves, and MPH is how fast that air leaves the nozzle. CFM moves big piles; MPH lifts debris that is stuck down. The PB-9010T is rated high on both, so it is best at the jobs that defeat smaller blowers.

The biggest drawback is that it is far more blower than most homes need, and you carry, fuel and hear all of it. A 79.9cc 2-stroke engine is loud, needs mixed fuel and adds real weight to your back for every minute of work. On a quarter acre, 1,110 CFM is more likely to blow mulch out of beds and gravel off paths than to save time.

The listing is also thin. It states the engine size, CFM, MPH and throttle position, but not the weight, sound level in decibels, fuel tank capacity, harness details or warranty. Get ECHO's spec sheet before you buy, especially if a town noise ordinance or a gas blower restriction applies where you live. On price, the Husqvarna 150BT lists 765 CFM for $297.99, which covers a 1 acre wooded lot for much less.

The PB-9010T is a 2-stroke engine, so it burns gasoline mixed with 2-stroke oil. ECHO specifies a 50:1 mix for its 2-stroke engines; confirm the ratio in the PB-9010T operator manual.
